Happy New Year! One of the things I enjoy most in my role at MAPSA is playing connector. This could entail connecting school leaders to one another to share best practices or this could be connecting a school with a MAPSA Provider of a particular good or service. This is why I am so excited about the launch of our improved Marketplace website. The Marketplace is a perfect way to play connector virtually!

Another piece of what I do that I absolutely love is the ability to provide schools with resources. At MAPSA we do this in many ways, but our most recent addition can be found within the Virtual Marketplace. We have added new tools for you to use when it comes to procurement, as well as given MAPSA Providers the opportunity to offer you resources within their online profiles. What we can do for you with the Virtual Marketplace has only just begun. MAPSA plans to keep expanding and adding even more resources as the site continues to grow.

The reviews and the star ratings area of the site are completely driven by schools. This is such an important piece, and I know your colleagues would love to hear feedback on your experiences. Please make sure to add reviews for any MAPSA Providers you have had relationships with right away. Your participation will make the Marketplace even more dynamic!

Please let me know if I can help play connector either virtually or in-person. I would love to assist you in any way I can!

Best Practice of the Month: Gain Access to Quality Resources with MAPSA's Improved Virtual Marketplace

We have been working with MAPSA's Providers to ensure this updated website is a useful tool that grants schools access to quality resources. If you are looking to partner with a business, or are looking for a product or service to use in your school, the Virtual Marketplace has the tools necessary to assist you.

Some of the new features include:

  • The ability to send out Request for Proposals (RFP's) to providers directly from the site. It also includes tips for you to use in creating the scope of work.
  • The opportunity for MAPSA Providers to share resources with you, including best practices, tutorials, or other materials educating you on how their product or service may be a good fit for your school. Just visit their profile to access any resources they have made available to you.
  • A more advanced rating system and ability to read feedback from your colleagues on the experiences they have had with a certain provider.
  • An expanded search function, making it easier for schools to find exactly what they are looking for.

This resource is an invaluable tool for you to use when looking for most any product or service. We are very excited to start the New Year off by launching this new resource for you, and hope you take advantage of all it provides.

Lansing Connection
The legislature will be in full swing this week. Letter Grading and 3rd Grade Reading remain a high priority in the House. The Governor will be giving his annual State of the State address on January 16th, and that is usually a good place to look for clues on what his budget presentation will include when he gives that in early February. Additionally, the legislature has started looking at what the new State Assessment will be; what appears to be a new ad hoc committee started meeting on the issue today.
