Good Things Happening in Our Schools:
Taylor International Academy Group Makes Trip to Poland
The "International" in the school's name came into focus this week, as a group of students, staff and board members from Taylor International Academy in Southfield left for a trip to Poland. The group of eight students, three teachers and two board members departed on May 30.
“What a great opportunity for our TIA students to travel and learn," said Board President Tom West. "Their future is truly a global one. Our plan to be international is moving from thoughts and dreams to reality.”
The travelers arrived in Krakow, Poland, where they studied the historic architecture of the city. The trip also focuses on the history of World War II, with a visit to the concentration camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau. The students will also visit the academy’s sister school, named Zespół Szkół w Librantowej (ZSL). The students have been building a year-long relationship with the students abroad through video chat. The two schools will spend three days interacting and studying with one another.
This trip is intended to be the first of many. Taylor International Academy plans to stay connected with its international sister school after the trip with hopes of hosting a trip to America for the students of ZSL, and participating in academic competitions between the two schools.
Taylor International Academy is authorized by Central Michigan University and managed by the Hanley Harper Group.
