National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY),http://www.nichcy.org/, provides a wealth of information on disabilities.

NICHCY stands for the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities and serves the nation as a central source of information on:

  • disabilities in infants, toddlers, children, and youth,
  • IDEA, which is the law authorizing special education,
  • No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities), and
  • research-based information on effective educational practices.

Anyone can use the services -- families, educators, administrators, journalists, students. The special focus is children and youth. On the website, you'll find an abundance of information on:

  • Early intervention services for infants and toddlers
  • Special education and related services for children in school
  • Research on effective educational practices
  • Resources and connections in every state

Offer Publications in English and Spanish
Check out the publications online. You can download them, or ask for them in print. Fact sheets are available on specific disabilities, state resource sheets, parents' guides, resource lists, and much more. All publications on website are free. If you'd like a copy in print, or you need one in an alternate format, call or email your request.

Connect You with Others
Get in touch with disability organizations around the country, parent groups, state agencies, and others who can offer you yet more assistance and information. On the website, you can search for organizations addressing your areas of interest, find resources in your state, identify available materials, and more.
