EDWorks is a not-for-profit subsidiary of The KnowledgeWorks Foundation. Our focus partnering with local leaders to initiate and sustain high performing and innovative schools. The EDWorks team has worked in 40 districts across seven states to re-design existing middle and high schools and launch innovative K-12 schools. EDWorks can support Michigan’s Public School Academy innovators through our New Start initiative. EDWorks New Start offers two levels of support: innovative start up and high intensity turnaround services.
Innovative Start Ups: EDWorks will work with sponsors, school and community leaders to create a unique, innovative school design to meet each community’s particular needs. Partners can chose from one of EDWorks’ six highly engaging school designs created in partnership with national content experts or we can help you create a design specific for your community. All innovative designs are aligned with state, national and college-ready standards, including the Common Core and grounded in the latest research on teaching, learning and 21st Century Skills.
High Intensity Turnaround Supports: The EDWorks approach to turnaround and transformation is designed to spark both short-term wins and long-term gains. EDWorks’ schools show quick improvements in climate, culture and attendance and increases in reading and mathematics performance. Over the course of implementation, schools experienced increases in graduation rate and state rankings, as well as closure of the achievement gap.
