Grad Profile: Teyah Longtin

iCademy Global

Next adventure: Brigham Young University-Idaho

Major: Animal Science

Goals: Veterinarian

What is your favorite high school memory?! My favorite high school memories are the in person opportunities I've had. With the schools I've attended being virtual, socialization is important. I loved being able to come the the school, sit in the booths, and play card games with my friend for hours.  The other memories that are my favorite are the ones I had at Careerline Tech Center. I raised a broiler chicken with a group for a contest, I pulled a piglet out of a sow, and I raised a calf to show the the 4H fair.

New call-to-action

Tell me about your time at iCademy.

I had never loved being in school. I was always ahead and doing nothing for the rest of each class, so my family realized I needed a change of pace. I needed a school that could let me work on my own schedule. Before iCademy I attended Michigan Virtual Charter Academy. We decided to switch to iCademy because it was located closer and gave an in-person option for socializing with our classmates and peers.

My school has helped me prepare because it has taught me how to motivate myself to get work done and for the most part, not have anyone holding my hand through it. I was able to get so much hands on experience working with animals that I will be able to take on to the next journey of my life!

What were you involved in outside the classroom?

Outside of school I was a competitive trampoline and tumbling gymnastics. Once I started at the Careerline Tech Center Animal Science program, I started to get involved with the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter. I've been part of FFA for the last two years helping raise animals, learning different skills for my future career and participating in the 4H fair.. This year I've served as the Chapter President for our FFA chapter.

Who is the educator that influenced you most?

Ms. Amy has definitely been an amazing mentor to me throughout my experience at iCademy. She has always been one I can talk to about nearly anything, and she has helped me grow with my writing in so many ways!
