Next adventure: Columbus State College in Columbus, GA.
Major: Art
Goals: Graphic design & Robotics
What was your favorite high school memory?! When I first got to high school I wasn't involved in anything. There wasn't an art club at the school, there was only basketball, football, music, and robotics. I really wanted to be involved in an art club and be a graphic designer. My principal at the time told me that I should try robotics because it would give me the skills and experiences that would benefit me in the future. I wasn't sure about it and took 3 meetings to decided if I even wanted to be a part of the team. I'm glad I did because my freshman year we went to states AND worlds. I couldn't believe it. It's definitely my favorite high school memory.
When I was little I would take piece of paper from my mom's desk and start drawing. As I got older, it became more of an interest of mine. I am very comfortable in art classes and I find all types of art relaxing. I hope to become a graphic designer in the future.
My principal Mrs. Drew was also my 9th grade ELA teacher and she has always inspired me. When I first came to Madison Academy I was quieter and was picked on a bit. Mrs. Drew saw it and made sure it didn't happen any more. She told me 'keep your head up and don't let anyone tell you who you can and can't be' and helped me ignore the distractions and focus on my school work. She's someone who can see her students for who they are and what they're experiencing and helps them push forward.
