Charter Schools Week was May 11-15, 2026! 

From May 11–15, students, families, and educators from charter schools across Michigan came together to celebrate
National Charter Schools Week — and to show lawmakers the incredible things happening in their schools every day.

Charter Schools Week 2026 by the Numbers

• 528 letters and stories from charter school students and families were hand-delivered to 58 lawmakers and decision-makers.
• 107 students entered our statewide Art Contest, with winning artwork delivered to legislators' offices across Michigan.
• 2 Art Contest winners hand-delivered their artwork to their representatives.
• 9 lawmakers joined us — touring schools and meeting the students they serve.
• 5 social media takeovers highlighted the positive aspects of charter schools across the state.
• 1 wax museum mini-me visited the State Board of Education meeting to share his impersonation of Dr. Glenn Maleyko.
