With the year coming to an end, it's time for reflection on those who deserve our appreciation for all that they do. Through MAPSA's 2019 Charter School Awards, you can recognize the people in your life, or your child's life, who make all the difference when it matters most. Nominations only take a few minutes to fill out, and for those educators, your words can mean more than you know.

Don't want to take our word for it? No worries - read below for testimonials from some former Awards finalists on just how much your nomination could mean:

Shawn Leonard, East Arbor Academy

"Being nominated for the MAPSA Administrator of the Year award was a humbling honor.  Knowing that so many people within the education community, particularly our East Arbor Academy community, recognized the passion we had for providing the best education for our students is what made this recognition so special."

Kristina Price, Trillium Academy

"It was an incredible honor to be named as the 2018 Michigan Charter School Teacher of the Year. Receiving such an esteemed award was a remarkable experience and a very proud moment in my life. I feel truly blessed to be a teacher. We have the power to make a positive impact in the lives of our students. Sharing my award and that moment with them was something I will never forget."

Aquan Miles

"Being a MAPSA admin of the year finalist was an exciting, energizing, and humbling experience all rolled into one. This became a unique opportunity to tell my personal why. This was a story I had only shared in smaller circles. It pushed me to focus my energy to do more. Most importantly, I was able to share this experience with my daughter. Her smile on that day is one that I will cherish forever."

Luay Shalabai, Central Academy

"Being nominated to the administrators of the year was a true honor for me and the whole GEE organization.  I was very grateful to MAPSA for granting me that award to acknowledge the hard work that we have been doing.  It instilled confidence in me and my whole staff to continue working with the best of our abilities to meet the needs of all of our students.  It really felt great to be recognized by an organization like MAPSA that continues to highlight the great things that are being done in our schools statewide.  I was deeply grateful for this honor."
