Ten outstanding educators from throughout Michigan have been honored as the finalists for the
2020 Michigan Charter School Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year awards. The semifinalists were announced two weeks ago, and the finalists were announced on March 30, 2020 (
the TOY finalists) and March 31, 2020 (
the AOY finalists) via social media.
There are 294 charter schools in Michigan, and hundreds of nominations were received for this year’s awards. The finalists are as follows:
2020 Michigan Charter School Teacher of the Year award
- Bonnie Camm, Landmark Academy, Kimball/Port Huron, sixth grade
- Ashley (Benson) DelBrocco, Achieve Charter Academy, Canton, first grade
- Jennifer Melero, Holly Academy, Holly, kindergarten
- Lexi Salisbury, Light of the World Academy, Pinckney, grades 7-8
- Kimberly Sedlmeyer, Escuela Avancemos Academy, Detroit, first grade
2020 Michigan Charter School Administrator of the Year award
- Lisa Bergman, Renaissance Public School Academy, Mt. Pleasant
- Jeremy Brown, Woodland Park Academy, Grand Blanc
- Ali DuBois, Muskegon Montessori Academy for Environmental Change, Muskegon
- LaTasha Goodall, University Prep Science and Math Middle School, Detroit
- Tricia Osborne, Madison Academy, Flint

Over the coming weeks, each finalist will be profiled on MAPSA’s website and social media channels. The winners of the 2020 Michigan Charter School Administrator of the Year and Teacher of the Year Awards will be announced later this spring.
