In a devastating move, Governor Whitmer used a line item veto on Oct. 1, 2019 to eliminate the originally proposed budget increase of $240 per-pupil for charter school students, and charter school students alone. Since the cut, charter schools have received two State Aid payments short of the increase, despite over 10,400 advocates speaking out and demanding change.
Across the state, charter students stand to lose nearly $36M in funding.
